Quinta do Prado
Acushla olive oil is produced in Alto Douro, at Quinta do Prado, an estate located in Vila Flor with nearly 300 hectares, which congregate a high potential for olive oil production.
With 14 hectares of centenarian olive trees and 200 hectares of new olive trees, the olive grove has approximately 70.000 olive trees. Quinta do Prado is currently one of the largest areas of organic production in the Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro region.
Organic Olive Grove
The growth of the olive trees is conducted with the utmost respect for the established procedures of organic production, foreseen by the European and American legislation. This production includes the use of farming techniques that respect the natural life cycles and reduce environmental impact. It also leads to several slow and expensive procedures, mainly the maintenance of the fertilization of the soils and the respect for phytosanitary and fertilization principles; it is prohibited the use of chemical synthesis products.
Sharing the commitment of the country in renewable energy, it is also our intention, on the short term, to invest in solar and wind power in order to become the farm production completely independent in terms of energy.
